Further information
In the performative installation “Geteilte Echos,” choreographer Miriam Jakob navigates through multi-layered relationships with an alpine scree slope on stage, exploring the perceived standstill of a mountain before its collapse. In an equally poetic and laboratory-like arrangement, she delves into parallels between an aging mountain and herself. Within the stage landscape, different levels of representation overlap among stone props, digital point clouds, and zones of human and rocky weakness, revealing fragile experiences of a mountain world in constant flux. Moving away from alpine idyll, Miriam Jakob exposes herself and her audience to seismographically representable vibrations from within the mountain. These unheard vibrations and the mountain’s fragility set everything in motion, unsettling thought itself. The theatrical apparatus invites exploration of one’s own instabilities along the mountain using all available means.
In her research for “Geteilte Echos,” Miriam Jakob collaborated with dancer Arantxa Martínez, sensual ethnographer Dr. Susanne Schmitt and sound artist Felix Claßen, initially on-site in the Allgäu Alps and in dialogue with scientists from the GeoForschungsZentrum Potsdam. This intensive artistic-scientific exchange about the crumbling mountain Hochvogel became an important metronome for the multi-layered reflection on upheaval and the power of transformation within the performance.

Geteilte Echos – Workshops
May 25th, 5:00 pm – Ines Lechleitner and Dr. Hannah Davies (moderated by Dr. Susanne Schmitt)
May 26th, 5:00 pm – Johanna Peine and Dr. Hanna Davies (moderated by Dr. Susanne Schmitt)
How do a geologist, an artist who enjoys working with cooking and scents, and a voice teacher understand transformation? What do oscillation, trembling, and change mean to them? And what traces do they leave behind? What resonances between geological phenomena and artistic-choreographic practice can be found? And how can we exchange about this material, not just verbally? Dr. Hannah Davies from the GFZ German Research Centre for Geosciences, artist and chef Ines Lechleitner, and voice and singing teacher Johanna Peine approach these questions, opening up new perspectives on participants’ own explorations of the stage piece.
On Saturday, May 25th, 2024 at 5:00 pm, geologist Dr. Hannah Davies and artist and chef Ines Lechleitner will engage in a dialogue about “tectonic crumbs” that can be savored both in taste and smell (albeit very fleeting, it is advisable not to come hungry). On Sunday, May 26th, 2024 at 5:00 pm, Johanna Peine, voice and singing teacher, will create vibrating and trembling mountain landscapes with Dr. Hannah Davies – a somatic activation for all age groups.
